Trading Disclaimer

Read this carefully. Trading involves substantial risk of loss. TradingView Optimizer is a software tool for evaluating strategy parameters. It is not a broker, an investment adviser, or a provider of financial advice. You alone are responsible for the trading decisions you make.

1. Not financial, investment, legal, or tax advice

The TradingView Optimizer desktop application and website (together, the "Services") are provided for informational and research purposes only. Nothing produced by the Services — including parameter rankings, impact charts, heatmaps, scatter plots, run comparisons, or any other output — constitutes investment advice, a recommendation to buy or sell any security, future, contract, or other financial instrument, or a solicitation of any kind.

We are not registered as an investment adviser, broker-dealer, futures commission merchant, or commodity trading adviser with any regulator in any jurisdiction. You should consult with a licensed financial professional before making any trading or investment decision.

2. Backtests are historical simulations

The Services run parameter sweeps against TradingView's historical Strategy Tester. Results are historical simulations and are subject to all the well-known limitations of backtesting, including but not limited to:

  • Past performance is not indicative of future results. A strategy that performed well on historical data may lose money going forward.
  • Overfitting and curve-fitting. Optimizing parameters against a historical period can produce results that look excellent in the backtest but fail out-of-sample. The Services do not eliminate this risk; they can make it easier to produce overfit results.
  • Slippage, spread, and commission modeling. Backtest results depend on assumptions about execution costs that may not match what you experience with your own broker in live conditions.
  • Data quality. Results depend on the historical data made available by TradingView, which may contain gaps, adjustments, or inaccuracies that we do not control.
  • Market regime change. Market structure, liquidity, volatility, and correlations change over time. A strategy fitted to one regime may underperform or lose money in another.
  • Execution differences. Live trading involves order latency, partial fills, and venue differences that a backtest cannot fully reproduce.

No representation is being made, and none should be inferred, that any strategy, parameter combination, or account will or is likely to achieve profits or losses similar to those shown in any backtest.

3. High risk of loss

Trading stocks, futures, options, cryptocurrencies, foreign exchange, and other instruments involves substantial risk and is not appropriate for every person. You can lose more than your initial investment, including when using leverage. You should only trade with capital you can afford to lose entirely, and only after you fully understand the risks involved in the specific instruments and markets you are trading.

4. You are solely responsible for your trading

You are solely responsible for:

  • Your own research, evaluation, and testing of any strategy;
  • The trading decisions you make and the orders you place;
  • Selecting and managing your broker or exchange relationship;
  • The performance, settings, and live behavior of any strategy you deploy;
  • Compliance with all laws, regulations, and terms of service (including TradingView's terms and your broker's terms) that apply to your trading activity.

We do not execute trades. We do not route orders. We do not manage money on your behalf. The Services do not connect to any broker or exchange.

5. Forward-looking statements

Any forward-looking statements on our website, in marketing, or in product output (for example, phrases like "this parameter may perform better") are based on the assumptions used in the backtest and are inherently uncertain. Actual results may differ materially.

6. Hypothetical performance disclaimer

To the extent any output of the Services constitutes "hypothetical performance" under applicable regulations (for example, CFTC Rule 4.41 with respect to commodity trading): hypothetical performance results have many inherent limitations, some of which are described above. No representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve profit or losses similar to those shown. There are frequently sharp differences between hypothetical performance results and the actual results subsequently achieved by any particular trading program.

7. Third-party marks

"TradingView" is a trademark of TradingView, Inc. TradingView Optimizer is an independent product; it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by TradingView, Inc. References to TradingView are made only to describe compatibility.

8. Relationship to our Terms

This disclaimer supplements, and does not replace, the disclaimers and limitations of liability in our Terms of Service. If there is any conflict, the Terms of Service control.
